Solid state lighting (SSL) technologies, such as light-emitting diodes (LED) and white light-emitting diodes (WLED) have the advantages of
lower energy consumption and longer lasting, when compared to conventional light sources. The Rutgers team is currently focusing on
the development of rare-earth-free, low-cost, solution-processable and easily-scalable phosphors that show strong promise for use in pc-WLEDs.
